Although the Internet is a medium relatively young, many different online advertising formats have been developed. One of the latest online ads is the so called streaming, a TV-Spot on the Internet. Due to the fact, that the streaming is a new advertising format there exist no market research materials which confirm the usage and the effectiveness. On this account the thesis title “advertising effectiveness of TV-Spots on the Internet” was chosen. In order to prove the effectiveness empirically, this thesis contains theoretic basics and three empiric parts: • Click-Analysis • Eye-Tracking-Analysis and • Face to Face Interviews. The results of these three empiric parts show clearly, that streaming got a better click through rate than animated content ads. In numbers, streaming obtained 0,21 % whereas the animated content ad obtained 0,10 %. Also the optic comparison of the hotspot-analysis shows, that the streaming obtained a higher gaze concentration than the animated ad. Via area of interest analysis it was possible to compare the fixations on the ad, view time and the time of first fixation. The analysis show, that streaming obtained 4,26 more fixations than the animated content ad. Also the view time on the streaming was about 1,49 seconds longer. The streaming was seen about 1,79 seconds faster than the content ad. The open recall results show, that streaming ads were remembered twice as often than animated content ads. Summarising streamings are ideal online ads to generate high attention and high recognition results. Furthermore streamings are seen as inventive, creative and simpatico in contract to animated ads.
