A new kind of promotion at the point of sale is definitely on its way to become a well-established part of the media-mix. Digital Instore Media – DIM, especially Instore TV, are going to take hold more and more at the place where the purchase happens. Timeliness, simplicity and modernity are only three of the benefits of this kind of sales promotion. The main goal of this paper is to give an overview about analogue and digital possibilities of Instore Media, especially Instore TV, and their providers. Firstly the kind of communication, that takes place at the point of sale, will be defined. Furthermore examples of implementations from Austria, Germany and the rest of the world will be explained in detail. After that, benefits and disadvantages, the effects and the efficiency of this new kind of promotion are going to be worked out. With the results of an online poll and interviews with experts from Instore TV providers, three hypotheses should be affirmed, respectively disproved. The first hypothesis says, that Instore TV will be a firmer component in the media-mix in the near future, and that retailers are going to implement this kind of point of sale promotion more and more. Furthermore, there is a possibility that Instore TV is going to replace real staff in their consultative function. Also, it could be dangerous in this digital age, because consumers ould be besieged with information they can´t handle. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:1128 application/pdf 2845127 bytes Digitale Instore Medien am Point of Sale Text
