Medienmanagement, Dipl.-Arb., 2008 Die voraussichtliche Entwicklung der Videospielindustrie am globalen Markt in den Jahren 2007 bis 2011 wurde auf dem Hintergrund konkreter Erfahrungswerte aus den Jahren 2002 bis 2006 analysiert und prognostiziert. Das Ziel dabei war die Darstellung der vier zentralen Elemente Computer-, Konsolen-, Online- und mobile Spiele und ihre dynamische Entwicklung am jungen Markt der Videospielindustrie. Nach einer Zusammenfassung über die Geschichte und die zentralen Genres der Videospiele, werden die wichtigsten Hersteller von Videospielen vorgestellt. Anhand des weltweit erfolgreichsten Onlinerollenspiels World of Warcraft wird versucht die Faszination dieser neuen Spielart vorzustellen. Mit Hilfe der PricewaterhouseCoopers und der Electronic Arts Studie werden die Entwicklungen des Marktes im Rahmen einer Sekundäranalyse überprüft. Dabei werden wachstumsfördernde und wachstumshemmende Elemente untersucht und die Chancen und Grenzen der Entwicklung des Marktes herausgearbeitet. Es zeigt sich, dass Online- und mobile Spiele an Bedeutung gewinnen, während Computerspiele, welche nur offline gespielt werden, Marktanteile einbüßen. Am Beispiel von Lateinamerika wird aufgezeigt, dass die technischen Voraussetzungen einer Region die Marktentwicklung maßgeblich beeinflussen. Das Ergebnis zeigt, dass der Markt für Videospiele mit durchschnittlichem jährlichem Wachstum von 9,2% im Zeitraum von 2007 bis 2011 ein dynamischer Wachstumsmarkt bleiben wird. The development of the video game industry of the global market in the years 2007 to 2011 was analyzed according to the background based on specific figures from 2002 to 2006. The goal thereby was the representation of the four central elements: computer, console, online and wireless games and their dynamic development at the recent market of the video game industry. After a summary of the history of video games and the most important genres of video games, the most important video game manufacturers are presented. On the basis of the world-wide most successful online role playing game World of Warcraft the fascination of this new kind of game is described. With the help of the PricewaterhouseCoopers and Electronic Arts study the developments of the market are examined in the context of a secondary analysis. Growth-promoting and growth-retarding elements are worked out and examined around the chances and borders of the development of the market. It is shown that online and wireless games gain imprtance at meaning, computer games, which are only played offline, lose market shares. By the example of Latin America, it is pointed out that the technical facilities of a region affect the market tendency considerably.
