The development of the Intranet was based on the technology of the Internet. Very early many enterprises realized that through the use in the local network the ser-vices of the Internet made interesting and important applications possible for an en-terprise. The intention of this thesis is to give an overview of the development and of the factors of success of the Intranet in the enterprise. Special emphasis is given to the internal communication that has changed essentially because of the Intranet’s use and that has meanwhile become a decisive factor of success for enterprises. To achieve this goal, initially the origin and the development of the Intranet are de-scribed in order to make the technical background clear. The following description of the different operational areas in an enterprise shows the variety of an Intranet’s ap-plications. Because a successful, internal communication has become a great challenge for enterprises, the teamwork and the assignments of the communication partners are explained in a more detailed way. Then a consideration of the employees’ commu-nication in the Intranet follows which is based on a study of Hoffmann. Particular at-tention is paid to the most important factors of the employees’ communication and to the results of the study. The final chapter devotes on the security and the protection against access from outside of the Intranet. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:1296 application/pdf 928972 bytes Das Intranet Text
