This dissertation is about the British film business in general and about the film Trainspotting in special. The British film business is marked by its rivalry with Hollywood films, studios, distributors, …. There are historical reasons for this but the main problem is the budget, which is not approximately as big as a Hollywood film budget. So British filmmakers must have other ideas to develop their creativity if they want to make a British film, which is not financed by Hollywood money. Another big problem is that there is no powerful British distributor that could compete with the major Hollywood distributors. Trainspotting is one of few films in the 90th that was crowned with success international. With a rather small budget the filmmakers managed to change themselves and the actors of this film into stars. The film owed a lot to PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, its distributor that made a fabulous marketing campaign and help the film to bring in over $85 million. 1552151 AC03127337 2017-02-17T13:31:48.603Z 44 no 46 Bianca Keindl 2000 application/pdf 1192450 http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:1350 no yes 1 70
