Analog radio systems, especially amplitude modulation, will be replaced with newer, digital technologies due to their high error sensitivity, which decreases sound quality. Furthermore, digital systems have other advantages than better sound quality, for example additional services like data services because of their higher efficiency. This Thesis handles about the world's only, open standard digital radio system called DRM (Digital Radio Mondial). DRM covers the broadcasting bands below 30MHz and has been activated in 2003. The aim is to explain the motivation of this topic, to give a general introduction in radio systems, like information about the history of radio systems in general, and DRM in special. But particularly the technical aspect of DRM will be discussed: standards will be described, digital modulations will be explained and compared. For comparison, simulationtools are needed and introduced, and a couple of simulation models and the interaction of their components will be shown. Moreover, the models will be automated and confronted to each other to give a conclusion about efficiency. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:1564 application/pdf 1401900 bytes DRM - Digitale Radio Mondiale Text
