Die Relevanz von dieser Thematik ist gege-ben. Diese Masterarbeit handelt von der financial literacy, dem Finanzwissen, und dem Informations- und Medienverhalten in Bezug auf Finanzen in Österreich. Zunächst wird der momentane Forschungsstand ermittelt. Mit bereits standardisierten Fragen wird die financial literacy erhoben, die Finanzinformationsquellen werden erfragt und ein Kontext erstellt. Weiters werden auch Gründe für die Präferenzmuster er-forscht. Die Beeinflussung der demographischen und sozioökonomischen Faktoren auf die Nutzung bestimmter Informationsquellen wird ebenfalls zum Thema ge-macht. Auch die Erfahrungen mit diesen Quellen werden beschrieben. Ziel der Ar-beit ist es, die österreichische Bevölkerung in Bezug auf ihr Finanzinformationsver-halten zu untersuchen. Mittels quantitativer Befragung in der Form eines Fragebogens und mittels qualita-tiver Leitfadeninterviews wurden Daten erhoben. Im ersten Teil der Auswertung wurde herausgefunden, dass das soziale Umfeld die wichtigste Informationsquelle in Bezug auf Finanzen darstellt. Bank- und Finanzberater/Innen kamen an zweiter Stelle und danach erst Medien. Im zweiten Part, bei der Auswertung der Interviews wurden die Erfahrungen mit Finanzinformationsquellen erforscht und auch die Mei-nungen zu den Ergebnissen der quantitativen Forschung erfragt. Dabei konnte fest-gestellt werden, dass das Vertrauen und die Unglaubwürdigkeit einer Quelle eine große Rolle spielt. Because of the steady changes in the Austrian age distribution and the present pen-sion system it becomes more and more important to concentrate on financial sub-jects. It can be said, that the topic is relevant. This master thesis is about financial literacy and the behaviour of information and media behaviour concerning finances in Austria. First the momentary research state is determined. With already standardised questions it is raised financial literacy, the finance sources of information are asked and a context is provided. Furthermore, reasons for the use of the sources of information is researched. This research deals with the influencing of the demographic and socioeconomic factors on the use of certain sources of information. Moreover, the experiences with these information sources are described. The aim of this study is to examine the Austrian population concerning her financial information behaviour. Data were raised from quantitative questioning and by means of qualitative guided interviews. In the first part of the evaluation it was found that the peer groups is the most important source of information concerning finances. Bank and financial ad-visers came secondly, and at the last place media. In the second part, the experi-ences with financial sources of information were investigated by the evaluation of the interviews and the opinions were asked to the results of the quantitative re-search. It was found that the trust and the implausibility of an information source plays a significant role.
