Zuerst werden die Begriffe Authentizität und Inszenierung näher beleuchtet, um herauszufinden, ob sie einen Gegensatz darstellen. Ferner wird ein Überblick über das Thema Reality-TV gegeben. Die Entwicklungsgeschichte, diverse Formen und Subgenres, ein Exkurs zu diversen Erfolgsformaten sowie verschiedene Inszenierungsstrategien als Stilmittel runden den zweiten Schwerpunkt ab. Weiterführend wird beschrieben, wie Authentizität und Inszenierung von den Medien eingesetzt werden und welche Probleme das mit sich bringen kann. Im empirischen Teil wird das Reality-TV Format „Promi Big Brother“ anhand seines dramaturgischen Aufbaus sowie der verwendeten Stilmittel analysiert. Das Fazit, nämlich dass authentische Inszenierung im Bereich des Reality- TV den Schlüssel zum Erfolg darstellt, sowie ein Ausblick auf die Zukunft, die mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit noch stärker von diesem Genre geprägt sein wird, bilden die Conclusio dieser Arbeit. This paper deals with the importance of authenticity in reality-tv formats. First of all, the world of authenticity and staging will be explored and possible differences will be presented. The second chapter concerns the topic reality tv. The historical development, different subgenres, a couple of success stories as well as staging strategies will sum up the second key aspect of this paper. Furthermore, the paper deals with how media is using the two topics authenticity and staging and what kind of problems can be caused. The empirical research focusses on the dramaturgic structure of “Promi Big Brother” and will present the stylistic devices used. As a conclusion when it comes to reality-tv authentic staging is the key to success. For the future it seems more than possible that this genre is getting more popular.
