High market saturation, similar products and price competition, especially against private labels are key challenges faced by brand companies in the FMCG market. In addition, companies are confronted with an increasing number of brand touch points. In the light of the demanding market conditions, FMCG Marketing Manager face the challenge of finding a suitable mix of brand touch points that supports the achievement of brand management objectives. Research shows that the brand experience or the experience-oriented staging of brands at various brand contact points can have a positive impact on consumer behavior. Although international research on brand experience is already comprehensive, there is still a need for research in low-involvement product categories, especially in German-speaking countries. In the course of this master thesis, the impact of brand experience on brand distinctiveness, brand loyalty, brand attitude and willingness to pay a premium price will be investigated. Also the characteristics of the brand experience in the Austrian FMCG-market, focusing on well-known soft drink brands will be explored. The results of an online survey of the Austrian people aged between 18 and 53 years indicate that the brand experience has a direct as well as an indirect influence on the examined brand success factors. The brand experience exerts the strongest influence on brand differ-entiation and on brand attitude. This means, the more a brand is linked to experiences, the higher the brand differentiation and the more positive the attitude toward the brand. The brand experience also exerts a direct and indirect positive effect (through brand distinctiveness and brand attitude) on brand loyalty and willingness to pay a premium price. However, unlike the brand experience and brand distinctiveness, brand attitude has no significant impact on willingness to pay a premium price. This emphasizes the importance of the brand experience in achieving the behavioral oriented objectives of brand management. Furthermore, the results indicate, that the FMCG brands Coca-Cola, Almdudler and Fanta have a stronger expression of the sensory and affective brand experience dimension. This shows that these soft drink brands are perceived sensorial and are linked to positive emotions. The results highlight the importance of multisensory branding and emotional communication in the FMCG market. Thus, it is important that FMCG brands address different human senses and evoke positive feelings when consumers interact with the brand. Experiences can be conveyed via the media or in real events. However, in the FMCG-market mass media communication plays the most important role. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:3425 application/pdf 4762978 bytes Text Brand Experience
