The dissertation is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The former deals with the importance of luxury and brands in the 21 th century. The meaning of luxury has changed in the last few years. Nowadays luxury does not only mean material property, it is combined with a pleasant lifestyle. Luxury brands are becoming increasingly popular. They are used as means of communication to show ones personality and that one leads a pleasant lifestyle. In particular this dissertation analyses the meaning of luxury to the target group students. The aim of the dissertation is to find out what the target group thinks about luxury and luxury brands. Apart from that it is, to find out whether the brand Swarovski is defined as a luxury brand or not. The empirical part is an online questionnaire, which was sent to Austrian students. According to this questionnaire most Austrian students think that luxury has a positive meaning. The analysis shows that luxury is very individual and linked to the personality of the students. According to their difficult financial situation, students have to be selective when buying luxury objects. On the one hand the empirical part of the dissertation has a special view on the students buying habits, on the other hand it has a view on their attitude towards luxury especially as far as the brand Swarovski is concerned. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:791 application/pdf 496995 bytes Markenpositionierung von Luxusprodukten Text
