This thesis deals with the organisation of art exhibitions, which are organised with the assistance of project management methods. After a description of the thesis conception, the author specifies the suitability of project management in cultural establishments and identifies the project value concerning the organisation of art exhibitions. Subsequently various tasks and methods of project management are characterised and exemplified on the basis of the case study “Jenny Holzer” in the museum for applied art/present art. The project plans which are derived from the case study provide a basis for the conception of standard project plans for the organisation of art exhibition projects. The conclusion of the thesis consists of a comparison between theory and practice, a reflection of the working thesis and a resume of the most important findings. Following results were compiled: Generally it is demonstrated, that the use of project management in cultural establishments as resource for the assistance of the Production and Marketing (tasks) in cultural management is of great advantage for cultural establishments. Furthermore it is shown, that the organisation of art exhibitions has project value and that projects of this kind can be described as art-exhibition-organisation-projects. Not only in theory the application of project management- methods is suitable also for this kind of projects, but also in practice, as was exemplified on the basis of the case study. However the application in practice has shown that art-exhibition-organisationprojects hold specifics, which are not consistent with general theory. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:849 application/pdf 532431 bytes Text Der Einsatz von Projektmanagementmethoden in der Organisation von Kunstausstellungen
