This diploma thesis deals with the communication of associations and other nonprofit organisations with their members. Nowadays, members are prone to question the benefits of a membership in an organisation. Therefore, communicating in a professional way with their members is essential for a nonprofit organisation. Communication in this context does not only include the promotion of products and services. Moreover, communication is one of the services, which nonprofit organisation or associations offer for their members and which members expect to receive. The aim of this diploma thesis is to propose recommendations for the communication with members of nonprofits. The special aspects of communication, which have to be taken into consideration when dealing with nonprofits, are pointed out. Furthermore, special means and models of communication are presented. Another important topic is the communication of changes. As an example, the communication with members of the Austrian Bookseller Association is analysed. The survey conducted with the members of the Austrian Bookseller Association showed that the members all in all are satisfied with the communication offers and that they feel well informed. The website of the association is visited rather seldom and as a result, the services available online are used infrequently. However, the newsletters sent via e-mail are appreciated by the members. http://phaidra.fhstp.ac.at/o:948 application/pdf 305708 bytes Text Mitgliederkommunikation am Beispiel des Österreichischen Buchhandels
