In today’s corporate world changes happen so frequently that they are not perceived as exceptions anymore. They rather belong to the normal course of life in almost every company. In order to cope with this development enterprises are required to set up a framework which supports changes. One example for an organizational change is the reintegration of a subsidiary. The process flow of a reintegration is comparable to the process associated with a merger or an acquisition. Communication is one of the key success factors of every change process. In this context a particular emphasis should be placed on the important role of the internal communication department which should serve as a communication gateway. The main task of the internal communication department is to enable a stronger feeling of togetherness and to teach executives how to deal with such topics. When facing a change the management should aim at increasing face to face communication with the employees because such processes (e.g. staff cuts) often involve emotions. The empiric part of this paper comprises the case study “Die interne Kommunikation bei der Reintegration der Jet2Web Internet GmbH in die Telekom Austria AG”. Its aim was to find out how satisfied the employees have been with the actions of the internal communication department in connection with this reintegration. The analysis of the online questionnaires shows that the staff was not content with the way internal communication took place in this reintegration project.
