Medienmanagement, Dipl.-Arb., 2005 Diese Diplomarbeit behandelt die Olympischen Spiele 2008 in Beijing, der Hauptstadt der Volksrepublik China, sowie deren Auswirkungen auf die Kommunikationsstrategien multinationaler Konzerne – und deren Bestreben ihr Unternehmen, ihre Marken und ihre Produkte beziehungsweise Dienstleistungen am chinesischen Markt erfolgreich zu positionieren. Dazu wird das Kommunikationsinstrument Sportsponsoring mittels Fachliteratur aufbereitet und auf theoretischer Ebene um die Bedeutung des chinesischen Marktes für multinationale Konzerne ergänzt. Im Kontext der chinesischen Medienlandschaft ergibt sich ein realistisches Bild der Gegebenheiten im Kommunikationsmarkt der bevölkerungsreichsten Nation dieses Planeten. Die ermittelte Theorie sowie realistische Zukunftstrends werden in weiterer Folge an den Kommunikationsstrategien multinationaler Konzerne gespiegelt. Diese Unternehmen sind auf professioneller Ebene im Sportsponsoring der Olympischen Spiele 2008 in Beijing involviert und bestätigen theoretische Annahmen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt lag in der rforschung der Bedeutung von eigeninitiierten Marketing-Events (sogenannten „Side Events“), in der Zielsetzung, dem Fahrplan sowie der Integration des Instrumentes Sportsponsoring im Kommunikationsmix der Unternehmen. Diese Diplomarbeit wurde im Mai 2005 fertig gestellt, analysiert wurden The Coca-Cola Company, Lenovo und Bank of China. This dissertation is about the Olympic Games of 2008 which will be hosted in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, and their effects on communication strategies of multinational companies – in their attempt to position their companies, brands and products or services on the Chinese market. Therefore the communication tool sport sponsoring was researched on a theoretical level by analyzing expert’s literature and by analyzing the importance of the Chinese market for multinational companies. Within the context of today’s media landscape the results is very clear view on the situation of the communication reality of world’s largest market. The developed theory and possible future trends of sport sponsoring were compared with real life communication strategies of multinational companies. Those enterprises are engaged on a very sophisticated level of sport sponsorship within the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing and did verify theoretical approaches to the topic. The focus of this dissertation was put on the importance of self-initiated marketing events (so called „side events“), the goals and targets of the sponsoring enterprises, their road maps and sport sponsoring’s integration within other communication tools of a company’s communication mix.
